The MCS Foundation
Give us a brief description of your background
I am currently a Scheme Operations Officer at MCS, which is my second role within the business since joining. Before joining MCS, I spent seven years at Pets at Home, including five and a half years in management across several stores, working with a wide range of people. I also spent two years at a renewables installer, gaining experience across all areas of the business, including the ECO and private departments.
Who/what inspires you?
My family inspires me. They have shown me that hard work and determination can help you build a life filled with the things that matter most.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
To me, leadership means guiding a team towards a shared goal while setting a positive example and empowering each person you work with. A successful team is one where people feel supported and able to confide in their leader.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I am excited to take part in the Future Leaders Programme, as I am always passionate about learning more about myself and exploring different ways of thinking.
Having held leadership roles previously, I am looking forward to gaining insight into other perspectives and continuing to develop my own approach.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
Education and cost are key factors that can stand in the way of a sustainable future. Many end users are not fully aware of the impact renewable technologies can have, and for many people, the cost of installation remains a barrier. No one person can achieve a sustainable future alone; it requires collaboration between people with different views, experiences and backgrounds, all working towards the same goal.
