Give us a brief description of your background

I studied for an MSc in Policy Research at the University of Bristol, and after graduating, I joined an independent sustainability consultancy – first as Communications Intern, then as Marketing Executive. In my current position, I use my experience in communications in combination with my academic background in policy to support the work of the HPA, from keeping members informed with newsletters and social media to engaging with political developments and responding to consultations.

Who/what inspires you?

Spending time outdoors is a big source of inspiration for me. It gives me space to step back, recharge and think more creatively. Nature helps me to put things in perspective and reminds me what I’m working towards.

What does the word leadership make you think of?

To me, leadership is about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported and productive. It’s about actively listening, making thoughtful and confident decisions, but also adapting and taking on feedback.

How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?

I’m excited to meet others working to progress towards net zero! I’m also hoping to gain some practical tools that help me gain confidence as I progress in my career.

What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?

For the transition to be really sustainable, it has to be inclusive. That means clear communication, fair access to opportunities, and making sure individuals and communities are supported.
