Vicky Redman
UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)
Give us a brief description of your background
My name’s Vicky and just over two years ago I started at UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) as a Team Leader for the Construction section. My time at UKAS has been full of learning adventures. My colleagues at UKAS are a breath of fresh air, it’s admiring to see everyone working hard towards the same goal – building trust and confidence in the products and services we all rely on.
Prior to UKAS my past work experiences include working in the Chief Executive office for Centrica (British Gas) for six years, with a short stint in the Chief Executive office at Barclays.
I’ve worked at several companies during my career, all in different sectors, but all with the customer/public interest at heart.
Who/what inspires you?
Each and every day there’s always something, or someone that sparks inspiration within me. I love to sit and listen to conversations between different age groups/ backgrounds – seeing things from other perspectives is a great way to learn.
I’d also say my dad was, and still is, a great source of inspiration to me. He’s sadly no longer with us after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis – but throughout his battle his outlook on life was always positive and he would always find the strength to smile and laugh.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
Leadership is the ability to lead by example, providing inspiration, motivation and aspiration.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I’m looking forward to collaborating and learning with like-minded peers. Looking to the future, I’m excited to benefit from the knowledge and skills I develop.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
Organisations working together, rather than competing, to achieve the same goal.
Learning what we can all do to make a difference, and what impacts our everyday actions make.
